Cited by the press as a pianist “with extraordinary energy, clarity and precision”, Alexia Mouza aged 11 was awarded First Prize with honors at the “Filon 2000” Pan-Hellenic Piano Competition. Winner of the Cittá di Cantú International Competition as well as of the Press Prize (2005), of the Giorgos Thymis Piano Competition in Thessaloniki (2008), and of the 2nd Prize of the International Piano Competition Val Tidone (2009). She was awarded the First Grand Prize of the Manhattan International Music Competition (2018), the Third Prize at the Hamamatsu International Piano Competition in Japan (2015) and First Prize at the International Piano Competition “Delia Steinberg” in Madrid (2015). She participated in “L’ Europe du piano” European project (2016-17) and has been awarded by the Academy of Athens (2015).

 

Alexia performed as an invited soloist with the Mexico State Symphony Orchestra, the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, the Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano and Trento, the Athens and Thessaloniki State Orchestras among others. She participated at the Festival of Young Pianists in Caracas, giving a recital, a master class for the young pianists of the “Sistema” and performing with the Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela.

 

Alexia Mouza has given concerts at the New York Carnegie Hall, Hong Kong Concert Hall, Berlin’s Konzerthaus, Grande Halle de L’Union of Toulouse, Sala Verdi di Milano, Academia Filarmonica di Bologna, Mozarteum of Salzburg, Megaron Mousikis of Athens and Thessaloniki, Ancient Theater of Pythagorion in Samos, Mozarteum of Caracas, North Carolina Museum of Art, Bunka Kaikan Recital Hall in Tokyo.

 

She has been invited in important international festivals like the Sächsisches Mozartfest (Germany), la Semaine Musicale (Switzerland), International Festivals of Athens, Thessaloniki, Nafplion, Heraklion, Aegina, Samos, Kalamata and Santorini (Greece), Maggio Fiorentino, Pomeriggi Musicali, Festival MITO, Festival de Bach a Bartok (Italy), Si-Chuan International Piano Festival in Chengdu (China), Paderewski Festival of Raleigh (USA), International Mozart Festival in Hokkaido (Japan). She made her USA debut at the Tsai Performance Center, Boston as winner of the Richmond Competition.

 

A Greek-Venezuelan, Alexia Mouza was born in Athens in 1989, and began taking lessons from her mother, pianist Patricia Arenas. From 1999 till 2013 she was enrolled at the International Piano Academy in Imola, Italy, under the guidance of Leonid Margarius and Anna Kravtchenko. Postgraduate studies (Artist Diploma, 2013) at the College of Fine Arts, Boston University, with Boaz Sharon, with scholarships from the Greek State and Boston University. She was further enrolled at Buchmann-Mehta School of Music in Tel Aviv under the guidance of Arie Vardi with whom she currently continues her studies.
