Elvin Hoxha Ganiyev was born in Ankara into a musical family on 25 November 1997. His grandfather, Server Ganiyev, was  famous conductor and violinist; his father is a lead cellist, and his mother, a pianist. All have been very influential in his development, especially his grandfather who was Head of the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts at Billkent University (which he also helped to found), and was also a State Artist in Azerbaijan.

 

Elvin started play  violin,  when he was 5 years old, and when he was 6 years he was sufficiently proficient to join  in the Music Preparatory Primary School at the Bilkent University. At 8 years, he gave his first orchestral concert with his grandfather, and, during the same year, he was admitted to the Zurich Conservatory Young Student programme as a student of the legendary Zakhar Bron (with whom he still studies).

Honours and awards

Elvin has received many honours and awards at international competitions including a medal from the Pope. He won 2nd prize in the International Lipinski-Wieniawski Young Violinist Competition (2009); became a New Young Musician of the Year (2010) and won two special awards in the 7th International Tchaikovsky Young Musicians Competition in Switzerland (2012). He also gained 1st prize in the international Nights of Madrid Festival (2012) and 3rd prize in the 5th Moscow International David Oistrakh Violin Competition (2013). In 2016, he won 1st prize at the 8th International Competition for Young Violinist in Russia.

As well as playing in concerts throughout the world in prominent concert halls, such as Carnegie Hall; the Berlin Philharmonic Hall; Kremlin Palace and Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, Moscow; Opera Garnier Monte-Carlo; Amsterdam Concertgebouw; Athena Megaro Hall, Zurich Tonhalle and the Royal Albert Hall, St. John,s Smith Square London;

As a passionate musician Elvin has performed at many festivals Internationally: Interlaken Classics Festivals in Switzerland and Menton Festival,France ; Rostropovich Festival ,Gabala Festival Music in Azerbaijan; Vladimir Spivakov Invites Festival , Trans-Siberian Art Festival, Russia; Istanbul  Music Festival, Ankara Music Festival, Turkey; Cannes Music Festival, Voices for Peace, Festival du Floréal Musical d'Epinal, France; Oettingen  Festival, Germany and Megaro Festival, Greece.

 

He also gave solo concerts and recitals in Albania, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Belorussia, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, Holland, Italy, Ukrain,Kazakhstan, Norway, Poland, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Kosovo, UK and USA.

 

Elvin is a student of Kalaidos University of Applied Sciences, Department of Music, Switzerland, and  Escuela Superior de Musica ,Reina Sofia , Spain in the class  of the legendary violinist, Professor Zakhar Bron.
