Igor Andreev was born in 1988 in Kaliningrad, Russia. He started to play the piano when he was 5 years old. In 2000 he entered the Special Musical School at the St.Petersburg State Conservatory named after Rimsky-Korsakov, class of Prof. Vladimir Suslov. He graduated from the school with honors in the year 2007 and entered the St.Petersburg State Conservatory, class of Prof. Leonid Zaichik (major: piano), Prof. Irina Sharapova (collaborative piano) and Prof. Victoria Zimina (chamber ensemble). In 2011 he won the Swiss Government Scholarship and entered the Bern University of Arts (class of Prof. Tomasz Herbut). Igor Andreev performs in concert halls of Russia and abroad (Germany, Finland, Switzerland, Estonia, Hungary, Lithuania).

 

He gives concerts with symphony orchestras such as Kaliningrad State Symphonic Orchestra, Kaunas Chamber Orchestra, St. Petersburg State Conservatory Orchestra, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande and plays in various chamber ensembles. ​He is a prize winner of the international piano competitions in Estonia (1998) and Czech Republic (1998), Safonov Competition in Pyatigorsk (1999), Liszt Competition in Weimar (2005), Competition of the Rotary clubs in Spain (2009), “3rd Classics in the Streets”, Bad Ragaz (Switzerland) Competition” (2012), 44. Swiss Competition in Laupersdorf (2013), “6. Concours International de Piano de Lyon” (2014) and “69. Concours de Genève“ (2014), “9. Hamamatsu International Piano Competition” (2015), “13. UNISA International Piano Competition” (2016) and "1. Manhattan International Music Competition" (2016). Igor was a participant of programs of the Rotary club and Lions club of Germany in 2010-2011 and different projects of Gartow-Foundation. He was a grant-aided student of the “Russian performing art” foundation (2005-2006), the Swiss Government Scholarship holder (2011-2013), supported by Hirschmann-foundation (2013, Spring) and was awarded a Förderpreis of the Kiefer-Hablitzel-Stiftung (2013).

 

In May 2015 he won Rotary Excellence Prize in Lugano and received further concert engagements. In addition to the solo repertoire Igor Andreev pays much attention to chamber music. He is a prize winner of the Sviridov International Competition in St. Petersburg (2005), Shostakovich International Competition in Moscow (2010) and the “Three centuries of classical romances” international competition in St. Petersburg (2012). Igor Andreev was chosen to participate in the chamber music master classes in Switzerland (“Violin & Piano Masterclasses” of the Académie de Musique de Lausanne, 2009), Germany (“International Chamber Music Campus of Jeunesses Musicales Germany”, Weikersheim, 2010), Italy (“Garda Lake Music Masters”, 2013) and Austria (“Vienna Master Courses 2013”).
