IRINA MARINAS

soprano

Irina Marinaş travelled around the world for her musical education. Born in Romania, the soprano started her studies in her hometown Râmnicu Vâlcea by taking piano lessons at the age of five. A decade later she started studying classical singing in Montreal, Canada. Irina Marinaş is a graduate of the McGill University Schulich School of Music, where she was a pupil of Stefano Algieri.

 

Ms. Marinaş attended the Canadian Vocal Arts Institute where she had the opportunity to work with musicians such as Diana Soviero and Joan Dornemann. In France, she participated at the CNIPAL Academy where she studied with Ivan Domzalski and Nina Uhari. The soprano completed her studies in Salzburg, Austria at the Mozarteum University, where she obtained a Master's Degree in the class of Horiana Brãnişteanu and Josef Wallnig. Ms Marinaş has been privileged to attend masterclasses and to have worked with artists such as Angelika Kirchschlager and Nadine Secunde.

 

The soprano's debut was in 2009 at the Operafestival di Roma as Susanna in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, role which she interpreted again in 2011 at the Sommer Oper Bamberg Festival.

 

The same year, Irina Marinaş performed Apollo in Gluck’s Il parnaso confuso at Vienna‘s Schloßtheater Schönbrunn as well as in Salzburg’s Schloß Mirabell. Since 2012 Ms. Marinaş is a fest member of the Musiktheater Ensemble in Koblenz, Germany, where she has been singing roles such as Konstanze (Die Entführung aus dem Serail by W.A. Mozart), Anne Trulove (The Rake's Progress by I. Stravinsky), Pamina (Die Zauberflöte by W.A. Mozart) and Tatiana (Eugene Onegin by P.I. Tchaikovsky).

 

Her repertoire includes oratorio as well as art songs, chansons and lieder. In 2012, Irina Marinaş made her recital debut in Vienna with works by Schumann, Liszt and Poulenc. In 2016 the soprano made her debut as Adina in L’Elisir d’Amore by Gaetano Donizetti and as Stella in André Previn’s A Streetcar Named Desire at Theater Koblenz.
