Exquisitely sensitive tone and finer sounds portray the playing of the young cellist Marilies Guschlbauer, born in 1994. The desire to further hone this innate skill, she found herself at the Mozarteum University, Salzburg, where she completed her bachelor studies with Clemens Hagen in 2017. Currently, she is continuing her studies with Reinhard Latzko at the University of Music an Arts in Vienna.

 

She has been guest artist in festivals such as the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the Verbier Festival, the Salzburg chamber music festival, the City of London festival, the Classic Festival Bad Ragaz, Switzerland, the Allegro Vivo Festival, as well as several times at the Niederösterreichischer Musiksommer and participated in concert series of the KlangReisen Salzburg, the Kulturszene Kottingbrunn, the Wiener Bezirksfestwochen and the Mahagonizyklus in Vienna. Successful concert tours have already led her to Japan, China, Poland and Mexico.

 

In 2016, she made her debut with the North German Philharmonic Rostock under the baton of Wojciech Rajski. She gained her first experiences as a soloist at an early age, performing with the Young Viennese Soloists and the chamber orchestra Allegro Moldo. As a passionate chamber musician, she performed in various formations, such as the Elegia Piano Trio, the Sandor Vegh chamber orchestra, the Young Viennese Soloists etc.

 

As cellist, she has performed in numerous internationally renowned concert venues including the Musikverein in Vienna, the Viennese Konzerthaus, the Mozarteum Salzburg, the Festspielhaus St. Pölten, the Viennese Bösendorfersaal, Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City, Teatro Peón Contreras, the Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing and the EXPO Shanghai, amongst others.

 

Since 2004, she was six times first laureate of the "Prima la Musica" young musician competition, in addition to being winner of numerous special awards (ESTA-Prize 2010, Josef Messner Scholarship 2010, INÖK-Sonderpreis i.a.). Marilies has also been a successful prizewinner at the Manhattan International Music Competition and the International Cello Competition Liezen.

 

Marilies is currently managed by the Manhattan Concert Artists and was the recipient of a scholarship of the "Musik & Jugend" Foundation of the International Music Academy in Fürstentum Liechtenstein, amongst others. She has taken part in masterclasses and received tuition from Julius Berger, Wolfgang Böttcher, Peter Bruns, Valter Despalj, Reinhard Latzko, Jens-Peter Maintz, Christian Poltera, Heinrich Schiff, Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt, Rainer Schmidt, Torleif Thedéen, Gábor Takács-Nagy, amongst others.
