Violinist Wonny Bae (Wonhee Bae) is a young international soloist quickly becoming known as one of the most promising artists of her generation. She has performed as soloist with the Russian National Orchestra, Bucharest Philharmonic, Philharmonie der Nationen, the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra, the Stanislavski Danchenko Theater Orchestra, Korean Chamber Orchestra, Bergische Symphoniker, the Moldova State Orchestra Iasi and the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra.

In recital she has performed in the Frankfurt Alte Oper, the Großer Saal of the Mozarteum in Salzburg as part of Salzburg Festspiele, Royal Festival Hall London, Baden-Baden Philharmonie Hall, The Athenaeum Bucharest, Cité de la musique Paris, on the Kumho Prodigy series, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art Bing Theater. Her performances have been heard frequently on radio broadcasts in Europe, Asia, and the United States on WQXR FM in New York, KUSC in Los Angeles, Radio Suisse Romande, MDR Figaro Rundfunk Germany, ORF in Austria, and WHYY in Philadelphia.

Ms. Bae was recently named the 2013 Cultural Prize winner of Hauck and Aufhäuser as well as the 2013 Transition Classic Excellence Prize of Frankfurt. In 2012, she won the ‘Ocean Classical Award’, the world’s largest public prize, in a competition of international violinists under the musical direction of Justus Frantz.  She was also first prize-winner of the Lipizer International Violin Competition in Italy and a top prize-winner of many other international competitions such as the George Enescu International Competition in Bucharest, the Tchaikovsky International Competition for Young Musicians, the Isang Yun International Competition and a prizewinner of the International Mozarteum Sommerakademie.

An active chamber musician, she has performed internationally with renowned musicians such as Jens Peter Maintz, Lynn Harrell, and Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt at numerous venues including the Victoria Hall in Geneva, the Beyeler Foundation in Basel, Royal Academy of Arts in London, and the Martinue Hall in Prague. She has attended prestigious music festivals such as the IMAS festival in Switzerland under Maestro Seiji Ozawa, the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival in Lübeck, Germany, and the Ravinia Festival Steans Institute for Young Artists in Chicago, Illinois.

She graduated with highest honours from the Royal College of Music, London with Dr. Felix Andrievsky and continued her study with Boris Garlitsky and Svetlin Roussev in Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris. She is currently studying with Mihaela Martin in Köln Musikhochschule in Germany. She has taken masterclasses with Ana Chumachenco, György Pauk, Christoph Poppen, and Gérard Poulet. Ms. Bae plays on Santus Seraphin 1751 violin generously on loan from Villa Musica Rheinland-Pfalz Foundation.
